Tenzing-Hillary airport in Lukla today has only operated two flights today as the weather on early morning was clear and conditions prevailed at the region. Today, firstly Let-410 aircraft belonging to Goma Air and Dornier DO-228 aircraft belonging to Tara Air successfully conducted its flights operation at the airport on KATHMANDU-LUKLA-KATHMANDU route.
It has also been informed that hundreds of tourists who arrived for visiting the Sagarmatha region are stuck in Lukla. They were dispatched from Lukla by helicopters and some moved to Phaplu Airport by walking after zero operation of aircraft caused by the foggy weather at Lukla.
The airport lying on the lap of Mt Everest is one of the world’s extreme airports that features vibrant terrains, constantly changing weather and difficult approach making it challenging for pilots to come and land there.
