Land to be acquired for GBIA, airport operating within one and half years

The land required for Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) is slated to be acquired shortly. The airport which will be conducting within one and half years has published the notice for land acquisition.
The land required for the airport is about 500 bighas whose initial construction was done as per a regional airport but later that the construction was continued for establishing an international airport and the airport will be 1.5 times bigger than Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
The Chief District Office, Rupandehi has given 35 days notice informing about the land acquirement which belong to the locals as well as the government.
Initially, 287 bighas land was taken in for the project and after acquiring the land, the total area that would cover the airport will be 787 bighas.
The land includes houses of local people, pitch roads, lakes and drainage which has to be cleared out within one year as per the notice.
The construction of the company is being done by China’s Northwest Civil Aviation Airport Company Limited.
