Civil Aviation Authority of Dhangadhi Airport has already possessed more than 17 Bigha and 4 kattha of land in various stages but most of the landowners still haven’t shown up to collect their compensation. Most of the landowners are in foreign country so they haven’t collected the compensation yet.
Dhangadhi airport has the second longest runway next to Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) and land acquisition was done to upgrade the airport facility.
According to CAAN official, initially there were various obstacles. Although it is now solved, problem has risen as the land owners are not available to be compensated.
About 89 owners’ lands were possessed among which 7 are now left to be compensated. Around 51 lakh 24 thousand NPR for houses and 23 crore 11 lakh NPR for lands have been distributed and there is no lack of finance for compensation.
The airport located at the Province 7 was in high demand to be upgraded from the past. Nepal government has planned to make the airport regional in new budget for the fiscal year.
Dhangadhi Airport, one of the busiest domestic airports of the country, has got the newly established approach procedure to enhance the safe flight operation at the airport.
