Iran Air gets delivery of its first four ATR 72-600 aircraft

Iran Air confirms the delivery of its first four ATR 72-600s planes on Tuesday. European plane manufacturer ATR and the Islamic Republic of Iran had signed a purchase deal for 20 short-haul passenger aircraft in earlier year.
ATR group a combined ownership of Airbus and Leonardo Finmeccanica will be delivering 20 ATR 72 aircraft of new series i.e. ATR 72-600 aircraft by end of 2018. This order has an estimated value of US Dollars 400 Million.
Chief Executive Christian Scherer for ATR noted that “As Iran’s traveling public gains access to increased supply of air transportation, it will benefit from the highest standards of comfort, efficiency and reliability with the ATR´s we are delivering today and over the coming months”.
Iran Air was established in 1961 and flies to 35 international and 25 domestic destinations. The airline has also signed the agreement with Boeing and Airbus for purchase of 80 aircraft purchase deal with Boeing and 100 aircraft purchase deal with Airbus in early 2017.
The ATR 72 is a twin-engine turboprop short-haul regional airliner manufactured by the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR developed as a stretched variant of the ATR 42. The aircraft entered service in 1989.
