The government of Nepal has decided to shut down operation of 15 international airlines after midnight tomorrow for prevention of Covid-19 from international passengers in the country. The government had formed a high level committee which also made a decision to restrict all the international passengers including Nepali inbound to Nepal in international flights. Presently, country is receiving international passengers through 26 foreign and 3 Nepali international carriers inside the country.
The high level committee has concluded to strictly restrict the passengers from South Asian countries Turkey, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and passengers making transit in these countries. The restriction will be effective from midnight tomorrow until April 15. This restriction will shut the flight operation of Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Etihad Airways, Oman Air, Salam Air, and Qatar Airways. Similarly carriers of Middle East connecting Europe Turkish Airlines and carriers from East Asia Cathay Dragon, Korean Air, Malaysian Airlines and Malindo Air will not be flying to and from Nepal until April 15.
Nepali carriers Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines will also be shutting their operation after tomorrow.
Carriers from India, Thailand, Bangladesh, Singapore, Bhutan and China however will still be conducting flight to and from Nepal. Thai Airways, Indigo Air, Air India, Air Visatara, Biman Bangladesh, China Southern from Guangzhou, China Eastern from Kunming and Chengdu will also be conducting flights in need basis and not scheduled flights from tomorrow.
The passenger flow in only Tribhuvan International Airport is decreasing considerably in the recent days. The restriction will further decrease the passenger to very minimum.
