IFR Landings and Takeoffs Can Be Conducted At Simara Airport
An aircraft of Buddha Air had conducted safe test flight from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to Simara Airport at night using (Instrument Flight Rules )IFR on 30th of December, 2014. Though the test had been conducted in the month of December 2014, Several airliners are still waiting to get operation certificate to conduct their flight to Simara Airport at night.

Timely, letter of direction about night operation at Simara Airport couldn’t be sent by Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to management of simara airport.So, airport had delayed to conduct night operation. But now, airport is ready for the conduction of night operation. Airport has fixed Rwy09 for night landings and takeoffs. All the necessary equipments [Approach Lightning System(ALS), Runway Lightning System(RLS), Signal lights and So on ] has been setup in Simara Airport.
