Huge Sum Of Money Spent By CAAN For Lightening Runway of Dhangadi Airport
Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Nation’s regulatory organ for making the aviation field standard, safe, reliable and efficient in accordance to rules and regulations of ICAO, had taken haphazard decision for lightening runway of Dhangadi Airport.
There’s no any Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) rated flight conducted by any airlines to Dhangadi Airport. The decision taken by CAAN to spend about RS 80 million for setting up runway lights at Dhangadi Airport has been considered unwise.
Partial lights has already been setup but Very High Frequency Omani Directional Radio Range (VOR)/Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) has not been installed due to scarce of land. The project is still incomplete.
It has also been reported that the lifespan of half of the installed lights has already expired. Many personnel of CAAN are dissatisfied with the decision of CAAN.
