Historic Achievement of Conducting Cross Country Flight By Airbus E-Fan

On 10th July, 2015 the first flight was conducted by Airbus E-Fan, aircraft powered by electric twin-engine, from Lydd Airport of United Kingdom to Calais- Dunkerque Airport of France.

     It’s great achievement for Airbus Company, largest European aircraft manufacturer, to conduct flight to cross sea named English Channel situated between UK and France within 37 mins. The aircraft was piloted by test pilot Didier Esteyne. Pilot Esteyne asserted that it was great experience to command electric aircraft which is very quiet and efficient.

    E-Fan is light utility two seater aircraft that weighs 600 kg which can cruise at speed of 160 km/hr and possess maximum speed of 220 km/hr. It’s length is 6.67m whereas wingspan is 9.50m. Each electric motors with 8 blades ducted fan can produce thrust of 0.75 kN.
