Himalaya Airlines – Evacuation Slide accidentally deployed by passengers at TIA
May 30, 2017-KATHMANDU
Today morning, a passenger on a Himalaya Airlines plane deployed the evacuation slide as the aircraft was preparing to airborne from Tribhuvan International Airport to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The flight, H9890, was a schedule passenger’s flight at 08:25 AM (Local Time) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) from Kathmandu (KTM). A passenger opened the door just behind the right wing of the Airbus A320-214 with registration ‘9N-ALV’. The aircraft had just on board the passengers and was preparing to taxi from the parking bay. The incident caused the schedule flight to be delayed for some time.
Due to the design of airplane doors, it is impossible to open them while the aircraft is pressurized in flight but however, they can be opened during the taxi or parked position. The reason behind the incident still remains unknown.
As per the source, the passengers and the cargos still remain on the same aircraft. The airline now is preparing to conduct its schedule flight with its next Airbus A320-214 ‘9N-ALM’.
