Himalaya Airlines Starts its Commercial Flying.
Sumesh Shrestha – 12 April 2016, Finally a long wait comes to an end today with the first official commercial flight of Himalaya Airlines operated by a joint share of Nepalese and Tibetan investment marking its first flight Tuesday today the last day year 2072. It seems that the airlines made its commitment true by starting the flight from last week of Chaitra as it had announced earlier even though the flight started on the last day of year.
This is a memorable and remarkable day for Nepali aviation. Himalaya Airlines is the first airlines from private sector in Nepal to introduce a jet airplane for its operation. It started its first commercial flight with an Airbus 320-214 doing a straight flight to Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka from Kathmandu, capital of Nepal today.
The airbus took of from Kathmandu 9:05 AM today remarking its first commercial flight. The Chinese Ambassador for Nepal Mr. Wu Chuntai and Sri Lankan Ambassador for Nepal Mr. W. M. Senoviarathneti jointly inaugurated the auspicious service commencement occasion today.
Company’s vice-president Mr. Bijay Shrestha said,”Himalaya Airlines provided an attractive fare as a Colombo Flight offer so that its passengers would be able to celebrate New Year in Colombo.” An introductory fare of NRs. 55,000 for Business and NRs. 35,000 was offered.
This day proves the success of this airline to operate and make a history in Nepal Aviation besides a lot of hardships and continuous struggle. We are really looking forward to a bright future of Himalaya Airlines in coming days.
