Hawaiian Airlines to resume flight between Honolulu and Tahiti

Hawaiian Airlines will resume its flight between Honolulu and Tahiti later this summer, starting 7th August. Hawaiian have been operating flights to this route since 1987. However, it was suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 crisis.

French Polynesia Authorities opened its border for American’s and people who have been in the United States for at least 30 days before departure. Fully vaccinated passengers can travel to and from Tahiti without the need for quarantine.


Passengers traveling from Pappette to Honolulu must provide a negative test result taken only from the Institut Louis Malardé, a state-approved testing partner no earlier than 72 before departure.

Similarly, passengers traveling to Pappette will need to provide a negative test report, along with the completion of a form anywhere from six to 30 days before departure.
Hawaiian flight HA481 will depart Honolulu‘s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport at 15:35, arriving at Faa’a International Airport, Tahiti at 21:30. The return flight HA482 will depart Tahiti at 23:30 and arrive back in Honolulu at 5:15.


In a statement, Hawaiian Airlines president and CEO, Peter Ingram said:
“We look forward to reconnecting our islands, but most importantly, reconnecting family members who have not seen each other for over a year. We appreciate the tremendous work by the governments of French Polynesia and Hawaiʻi to open up travel between our regions.”
Apart from Hawaiian, United Airlines, Air Tahiti Nui, and Air France also operate flights to French Polynesia from the mainland United States.


However, those unvaccinated must present the reason for their travel. They must quarantine for ten days in Tahiti while they wait for their test results taken after arrival.
Hawaiian will operate this weekly service on board an Airbus A330-200s configured with 18 first-class seats, 68 extra-legroom economy seats, and 192 economy class seats.
Apart from Hawaiian, United Airlines, Air Tahiti Nui, and Air France also operate flights to French Polynesia from the mainland United States.
