For ease of international flights at Gautam Buddha International Airport, which has been operating since about five months ago, the government has started making Mahendranagar entry points for flights.

According to the Gautam Buddha International Airport Administration, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation is taking the initiative with India for all three points Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Mahendranagar.

About a year ago, India was requested for the entry point of Mahendranagar, but India still has not given its consent. Aviation experts have said that the Mahendranagar entry point (Lima 626) is suitable for international flights entering Pokhara International Airport, which is coming into operation along with Gautam Buddha International Airport and Tribhuvan International Airport.

Now international airlines entering Nepal are using Simra (Gulf 598) entry point. Kathmandu and the proposed Nijgadh Airport will also be suitable from this entry point. Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport are not considered convenient entry points for Simra.

Mahendranagar entry point is convenient for Tribhuvan International Airport, Gautam Buddha, Pokhara, and Nijgadh International Airport, General Manager Govinda Prasad Dahal said.
