Funeral of late Colonel Pilot Kailash Gurung concluded with code of honor

Funeral ceremony of late Colonel Pilot Kailash Gurung concluded with the code of honor today at Pashupati Aryaghat. Colonel Gurung was honored with the guard of honor by his fellow army men. The ceremony was conducted in the presence of Defense Minister of Nepal, Chief of Army and various high ranking army officials.

The funeral ceremony began with a funeral march from the army headquarter which ended at Pashupati Aryaghat. Family member along with relatives and friends followed by the army persons and countrymen offered their last goodbye to late Colonel Pilot Kailash Gurung in the ceremony.

As been reported late Colonel had served Nepali Army from last twenty-eight years and was dedicated towards his job to serve the nation. He had led several major rescue and relief operations.

Colonel Pilot Kailash passed away on May 30, 2017 Tuesday at Bajura airfield after the crash of NA-084 Skytruck army aircraft. He was controlling the cockpit of Skytruck aircraft carrying food supplies to deliver Simikot, Headquarter of Humla. But aircraft after the adverse windy condition at the Simikot airport was diverted to Bajura where the aircraft flipped and resulted in a catastrophic crash.

Colonel Pilot Kailash and Major Pilot Anita Ale Magar along with flight technician Purna Khadka Warrant Officer of Nepal Army were operating the cargo flight to Simikot from Surkhet. Major Anita and Purna Khadka were severely injured in the crash and were airlifted to Kathmandu from Bajura Airport for further treatment.
