Heavy and frequent downpour at Bharatpur has led to cancellation of flights to and from Bharatpur Airport.
Continuous rainfall and low visibility at the airport has led to cancellation of all flights on Saturday and is followed on Sunday as well.
Civil Aviation Authority office at Bharatpur has stated that low visibility at the airport has led to cancellation of the flight.
Around 5000 meter visibility is required to operate flight normally but lately, the visibility at the airport has been around 2000 meter only stated an airport official.
Due to cancellation of flights passengers have not been able to reach their destination and till now flights have not been resumed.
Presently, the Jetstream 41 aircraft of Yeti airlines, Beechcraft 1900C aircraft of Simrik Airlines and ATR 42 series aircraft of Buddha Air having regular scheduled flights in Bharatpur airport.
The airport is currently undergoing various up-gradation and management work anmd the flights are being conducted from morning 9:30 to 3:30 in the evening.
The airport which started its service since 1961 has been experiencing momentous growth in air traffic these days and the airport has become narrower after significant increase in air traffic, urbanization and lack of sufficient land infrastructure. Bharatpur airport conducts around 20 flights daily where 1000 air passengers take services every day. The airport has been providing service since 2018 BS to peoples of Hetauda, Tanahu and Gorkha.
Currently 6 flights from Buddha Air, 3 from yeti Airlines and 1 flight from Simrik airport is being conducted daily at the airport.
