An Ethiopian Air Force helicopter crashed at Eastern Shoa Zone, Lome District, in close proximity to the town of Mojo in central Ethiopia on 30th August. It happened around 10:30 a.m local time and it crashed just 20 minutes before arriving at its destination.
Eighteen people on board the helicopter are confirmed dead. Fifteen of them are members of the defense force and the rest are civilian officials, according to a report by Fana Broadcasting Corporate. Children and women are among the victims.
The Helicopter was flying from Dire Dawa in South East Ethiopia to Debrezeit (Bishoftu) where the base of Ethiopian Air Force in located.
The Ethiopian government says that it is investigating the causes. And preliminary findings seem to suggest that the accident has something to with weather conditions.
