Employees of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) are dissatisfied as the Government of Nepal is splitting the CAAN into two parts. They have been protesting for five days.
The Government of Nepal splitting the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal into two parts, a regulatory body and an air navigation service provider. Currently, all the responsibilities are under one authority ie. CAAN. However, the bill to divide the authority into two parts has been passed by the National Assembly and sent to the House of Representatives for further discussion.
CAAN spokesperson Raj Kumar Chhetri informed that the employees have been holding agitation programs and the siege of the office premises, demanding to keep the CAAN. According to him, one thousand employees working in CAAN do not allow the CAAN to be divided.
The employees have strongly protested, saying that some of the points included in the new bill are against the rights and interests of the employees and the authority.
