Dubai Int’l Airport sets a new record of monthly traffic in July

The world’s busiest international airport Dubai International or DXB set a new record in the monthly traffic in July as the city (Dubai) is the global connectivity hub and highly preferred tourist destination.

Dubai Airport operator said, “The passenger traffic surged 5.9 percent to hit 80.6 million compared to 7.61 million handled in July even as the number of flights declined.”

51.12 million Passengers were welcomed by DXB during the first seven months of 2017, up to 6.2 percent compared to same period in 2016. This record indicates the airport will exceed its traffic of 83.6 million passengers this year.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said the upward trend is expected to remain strong in the third quarter with Eid Al Adha coinciding with the summer rush later this month. “We have started the second half of the year on a very positive note,” he said.

Dubai International Airport received maximum passengers (1.02 million) from India followed by UK (610,151) and Saudi Arabia (573,170). Likewise, DXB served popular destinations were London, Kuwait, Mumbai, Bangkok and Riyadh.

DXB’s traffic rocketed to 83.65 million passengers in 2016 compared to 78.01 million in 2015. The number escalated due to the introduction of new airlines, including Nepal Airlines Corporation and Rossiya, launching services to DXB while 11 new passenger destinations were added to the hub as a result of network expansion by flydubai, Emirates and other international carriers. Nepal is also contributing for increasing Dubai air traffic with the fact that the city is favorite for Nepali migrant workers.
