Dead mammal found on the runway of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA)
Kathmandu – 26 October 2016
A dead bat was found on the runway of Tribhuvan international Airport (TIA) this morning which could have been on the runway since night time according to the spokesperson of TIA, Mr. Prem Nath Thakur who also informed Aviation Nepal that some glass pieces were also found on the runway.
He further said that investigation is going on for who to blame for the glass pieces as they have already asked the three international airlines who landed this morning in TIA namely, Flydubai, Turkish Airlines and Jet Airways and they informed it was not their work.
While the glass pieces could also belong to the follow me vehicles and maintenance personnel, TIA has been blaming the airlines and their aircraft.
Mr. Thakur also informed Aviation Nepal that the other airlines about to land have been informed to diverted back which is always a loss for any airlines delaying a scheduled flight.
The airport was nearly closed for an hour from 8:25am to 9:30am.
Such inattention and carelessness on the only runway off the airport proves how incompetent the administration of TIA is and how aviation safety not taken sincerely.
