Construction plan of new airport at Dhankuta initiated

The plan of constructing new airport at Baaghkhor, Belhara Danda in Dhankuta has been commenced as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR).

The airport construction DPR has been conferred to Real Path Engineering consultancy, Lalitpur. Real Path Engineering consultancy is the organization whose major areas are engineering study, survey, design and estimate of building, road, bridge, water supply, irrigation, hydro-power etc.

Mr. Gurudatta Adhikari, an engineer at the firm stated that the airport is expected to be 1200 meters long and 400 meters wide.

All the construction works were halted for couple of month due to elections and other local problems. As per the Information, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation had allocated a budget of Nrs. 2 crore for the initiation of the construction of the airport about four months ago.

Besides, CAAN is also preparing to initiate other airport projects around the country at Kalikot, Gulmi, Khiji Phalate (Okhaldhunga), Ilam (Sunsari) and Dharan.
