Parliamentary Committee has instructed the government to expedite the construction of Nijgadh International Airport by addressing the issue of public interest immediately.
The meeting held on Monday in Singha Durbar between Parliamentary Committee and the Federal Parliament along with Coordination Committee has directed the government to speed up the construction work of second international airport addressing the controversial topic of cutting down trees and other things.
The committee has also alerted the government to complete the construction project of Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) within one year. Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), Rabindra Adhikari also has been instructed to make the arrangement for the land compensation in order to boost the work speed of Pokhara International Airport.
In the meeting, Minister for Tourism, Ravindra Adhikari expressed his commitment to initiate the construction of Nijgadh International Airport by addressing the issues of public interest. Minister Adhikari also informed the committee that the government has been aware to reduce the number of cutting trees as much as possible due to the construction of the airport.
Minister claimed that the construction of the airport has already been initiated after preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR). He has also urged the committee to monitor the construction work of international airports. He also expressed his commitment to join the members of the Committee during the monitoring.
