Chandragadhi Airport (VNCG), one of the busiest domestic airports in the Eastern part of the country will be commencing night flights services from January 31 (Magh 17), 2019.
Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has planned to start domestic night flights from Chandragadhi Airport to cope with the growing air passengers’ demand.
Purna Chudel, chief of Chandragadhi airport stated that Prime Minister KP Oli will inaugurate the night flight operation ceremony on January 31 and the night flight service will hence be started.
He said that the authority has decided to operate night flight services after the flight were disrupted at daytime due to various reasons and passenger have to strand.
Chief Chudel also said that the airport administration is talking to the airline companies for the night flight services. He also informed that the airlines can serve by observing the arc of air passengers.
Buddha Airline, a leading domestic airline will be starting the night flight from March 10, 2019 and has already started opening air tickets.
Likewise, Chandragadhi airport, awarded as the best domestic airport across the country of 2075 had finally completed the runway lights installation work.
The certification to conduct night flight at the Chandragadhi Airport has already been awarded along with the necessary procedural designs. At present, only TIA, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Simara, Biratnagar and Dhangadhi airports operate night flights which have the capacity to accommodate ATR-72 model planes except in Simara.
The physical and technical conditions of the airport have been greatly improved. VOR/DME equipment are going to be installed after the installation of runway lights.
Currently, the airport has been using Satellite Best Day IFR technology. In the past, visibility of around 5000 meters were required for the flight operation. With the use of new technology, in 2200 meters visibility the flight operation are being conducted.
