Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has initiated to introduce international level training center in its 89 ropani land located at Sano Thimi.
CAAN plans to set up the new Civil Aviation Academy in Thimi in an area spread over 189 ropanis of land. Different departments for trainings related to air traffic service (ATS), aeronautical engineering and rescue will be built.
Sanjeev Gautam, Director General of CAAN stated that the design and construction for Engineering Training, Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and Rescue and Fire Fighting Training Centre has already started.
According to the Authority, the construction of the building was started last year in 1172 sq.m area after the ATC training building at Sinamangal was ruptured by earthquake of 2072.
Prera Tulasi Jai Mata Construction (JV) stated that the under construction building will be completed within a year.
Previously, the Madhyapur Thimi Municipality sealed the premature building construction of CAAN for not registering essential map layout of the construction. CAAN then registered the map and resumed the construction work.
One of the CAAN officials stated that the modern device will be installed for Simulator in the building.
Similarly, it is planned to transfer Rescue and Firefighting training department to Sano Thimi, which has being conducted in coordination with Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
The source said that Rescue and Firefighting training has been planned to shift to Sano Thimi for which structure design work is going.
The source also informed that it has also been planned to provide experimental training with the dummy aircraft along with the Physical Exercise at the building.
DG Gautam stated that the authorities have been providing Air Traffic Services, Engineering, Refresher training, X-ray machine, Air safety, administration and other 62 different types of training. CAAN has its own 189 ropani land in Sano Thimi.
