Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Flight Safety Standard division has issued notice to all operators regrading the swarms of locust that have been noticed in several parts of Nepal.
CAAN has advised the operators to exert ferocious caution and adopt necessary measures for safe conduct of flight seeing the potential hazards than can be caused by locust activities in aviation.
CAAN suggests to apply the safety management principle to mitigate the associated risks from the potential hazards that can be caused by locust activities harming the aircraft flying in locust prone areas.
Government of Nepal has warned that locust swarm has invaded Nepal from its neighbor country India.
“Swarms of locust have broke into various parts of country includes Bara, Parsa, Sindhuli, Sarlahi and Rupandehi, among other districts,” said Hari Bahadur KC, spokesperson at the agriculture ministry.
