CAA Nepal vows to strictly monitor all helicopters operating in Nepal

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has vowed to monitor the entire helicopter operating in Nepal using V2 Track system, a helicopter tracking device. Nepal has a booming private helicopter industry.

According to highly placed source from the authority, the CAA Nepal had already dispatched the request for all the Rotor wing operator of Nepal for proving the V2 Track Access Login Details of each operator within 7 working days. The source stated that the continuous monitoring of the helicopter will be carried by Flight Safety Standard Department (FSSD) and ATC (Air Traffic Control) Tower; ATC Officers. Previously, the helicopter monitoring practice was not as effective as the ATC Tower only provide the ATS Information and clearance for the flight and land following the existing heli-lanes established at Kathmandu.

CAA Nepal initiated surveillance of the entire Helicopter operating in Nepal as the Safety Concern and Helicopter operations in Nepal presently have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Conspicuously, among the recent cases, fatal incident at Hilsa of Manang Air Helicopter and mishap on top of Simik Air in Grande Hospital and now the dubious roles of heli operators in the fake rescue scam.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal is a regulatory body dealing with safety issues. CAA of Nepal is also responsible for regulation of air transport services to/from/within Nepal and for enforcement of Civil Air Regulations, Airworthiness, Operations and Air safety. The FSSD, formerly known as Aviation Safety Department under CAA Nepal comprises of different divisions and section namely Airworthiness Inspection Division, Flight Standards and Licensing Division, Flight Operations Division.
