Buddha Air, one of the top domestic carrier of country has topped 2018 internal flight by operating more than 28 thousand flight in the year.
The carrier topped the position of highest number of domestic flight of 2018 with 28,889 flight being operated giving service to more than 1.3 Million passenger in domestic sector.
The airline has already set a new record by providing services to more than 1.4 Million air passengers in the year in both domestic and international sector.
Buddha Air provided service to 13,25,409 domestic passenger in 2019 which accounts to 46% of total passenger flow from the year. In 2018 there were 28, 47,752 air passengers.
The airline currently owns 11 aircraft including 2 Beechcraft B1900D, 3 ATR 42-320 and 6 ATR 72-500 series aircraft and has been providing service to Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, Simara, Janakpur, Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Pokhara, Dhangadi and Tumlingtar from TIA along with Mountain Flights.
The airline is in process to add 2 more ATR 72 series aircraft to extend their flight operation to different cities of Nepal as well as India. Buddha air will also be adding 3 weekly flight to Indian city Calcutta in international sector.
The airline has been operating chartered flights to Indian city Varanasi.
Yeti airlines attends 2nd position with 19,140 flights in 2018 providing service to 6, 68,664 passengers. The airline has been operating 6 BAE Jetstream 41 and 2 ATR 72-500 aircraft to Biratnagar, Pokhara, Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Janakpur, Bhairahawa, and Nepalgunj along with mountain flights.
Yeti airlines is also planning to add two ATR-72 series aircraft which are projected to arrive by March end.
Flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) came in fifth position with only 3955 domestic flights providing service to around 79,172 passengers. The carrier owns 4 Harbin Y12-e and 2 MA-60 Chinese aircraft and 3 twin-otters. The airline couldn’t come into competition as the aircraft remained grounded frequently.
However, NAC has topped in international flight sector this year after the arrival of 2 new wide-body Airbus A330 series aircraft.
Shree airlines also managed to provide service to around 4, 47,877 passenger with its 2 CRJ 200 and 2 CRJ-700 aircraft. It is also preparing to bring two Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft into its fleet between February and March 2019. The carrier has been operating domestic flights to Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, Rajbiraj, Biratnagar, Bhadrapur and Bhairahawa.
