Buddha Air to fly Varanasi twice a week from the end of June

Buddha Air has scheduled to start its Kathmandu-Varanasi-Kathmandu service twice a week from the end of June for this year as part of the drive to the holy sector in its international network with Franco-Italian aircraft named as ATR 72-212A.

On the Press Confrence Held at Hotel Himalaya, Managing Director of Buddha Air, Mr. Birendra Bahadur Basnet said that the airline has started preparation to commence the flight and has planned to start commercially from June 29, 2018 to connect two holy cities twice a week. The airline has planned to operate flight with its complete holy package, includes the tourist guides, hotels, transportation and others for the ease of the tourist travelling. The airline has announced to provide the exclusive discounts offers to the holy passengers from Nepal and India traveling to the destination.

Previously, Buddha Air had commenced this service on Kathmandu-Varanasi sector from 1st March, 2012. On Jan 7, 2011, the carrier had also operated flights to Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, as its second international destination after Bhutan. The service has remained suspended and again commenced with two flights a month since August, last year. It began commercial flights to Paro, Bhutan with an 18-seater Beechcraft 1900D on Aug 23, 2010. It is the first foreign private airline to serve Bhutan from Nepal.

Varanasi being the holy city lies in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and is regarded by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. “The objective of connecting Varanasi is the route’s prospects as it is a pilgrimage site and there are also businesses and education opportunities,” said Buddha Air’s Officials.

Buddha Air which is the only airline to connect between the two cities in the south east Asia will be offering various packages such as ‘CLASSIC KASHI-Starting price of Nrs 32,500’, ‘ON BUDDHA’S TRAIL-Starting price of Nrs 34,000’ and ‘TRIVENI YATRA-Starting price of Nrs 41,500’.

The airline is also preparing to introduce online porter which will feature photos, travelling details and other information for the ease of tourists.
