Buddha Air initiates night flight operation at Dhangadhi Airport

Buddha Air has started a night flight from Dhangadhi Airport after Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) established RNAV (Area Navigation). The carrier has been authorized to conduct Performance-Based Navigation (PBN). This new navigation procedure will aid the airline to conduct Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) procedure and night flight at Dhangadhi Airport.

Budharam Majhi, chief of Dhangadi Airport stated that Buddha Air has been conducting test flights from 7-8 months and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has granted permission after getting successful test flights result.

Due to air traffic congestion, frequent flights have been disrupted because of that night flight have to be conducted. Buddha Air has taken effective step which will avoid air traffic congestion in daytime and the air passengers don’t have to face any problem when the flights get cancelled at day,” he added.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the RNAV (Area Navigation) GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Instrument Approach Procedure has been established at Dhangadhi Airport (VNDH) to enhance the safety and efficiency of the aircraft operations and materialize the National PBN Implementation Plan of Nepal.

According to the source, the newly established RNP Approach RNAV (GNSS) procedure is designed in accordance with the criteria stipulated in the ICAO PANS-OPS DOC 8168 VOL. II. A full arrival, approach and missed approach trajectories along with associated holdings have been designed in the procedure.
