Buddha Air celebrates 20 years long aviation journey today

20 years ago today; marked an event that changed the domestic aviation landscape of Nepal. On 11th October 1997, Buddha Air’s Beechcraft 1900D took to the skies for a sight-seeing mountain flight. This was a stepping stone for Buddha Air to become Nepal’s largest and privately owned domestic airline.

Now, we’ve become the preferred airlines to fly – dominating the pressurized aircraft segment with a 63% market share. This was possible with the support from our valued passengers, tour operators, travel agencies, trekking agencies, bank and financial institutions, aircraft and engine manufacturers, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Finance, Nepal Rastra Bank and all our well-wishers, reported Mr. Birendra Bahadur Basnet, Managing Director for Buddha Air.

Behind our success and service excellence are our 865 dedicated employees working on the ground and in the skies. Recognizing the tireless efforts and commitment of our employees, the profit earned has been invested for their incentives and training. Furthermore, we have been contributing directly and indirectly to the nation’s revenue, he added.

Moving forward, Buddha Air hopes to celebrate more milestones with its passengers. The airline has already signed the sales agreement with ATR Company to purchase one additional ATR 72-500 which will be delivered by the 1st fortnight of January 2018 and are also planning for acquiring another by June 2018.

Mr. Basnet through Buddha Air’s official social site also mentioned that the airline has finalized to acquire an Airbus 320 aircraft to start international operations from projected Pokhara International Airport. Buddha will start international operation with three A-320 aircraft from 1st August 2021 and plans to make the fleet count 20 A-320 within the decade.

In these 20 years, we have never compromised on our aim to provide our valued passengers with the safest, most reliable and comfortable means of air transport. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all our valued passengers for their continued support and loyalty, mentioned Basnet.

Buddha Air is anticipating for being the part of your journey for many additional years to come.

At present Buddha Air owns two Beechcraft 1900 D, three ATR 42-320, and four ATR 72-500 aircraft.

We here at Aviationnepal congratulate entire Buddha Air team for the milestone.
