Buddha Air, one of the leading airlines companies of Nepal has confirmed the air freight from Kathmandu, Nepal to Kolkata, India.
According to the company, the carrier has allocated NRs 22,000 per person for two-way air ticket.
The carrier has allocated NRs. 10,440 from Kathmandu-Kolkata flights whereas NRs. 11,560 for Kolkata-Kathmandu flights.
Rupesh Joshi, Marketing Director of Buddha Air stated that the air ticket from Kolkata to Kathmandu has become very expensive as India government charges more taxes on tourist’s fees.
Buddha Air has arranged various packages in Kolkata flight, Joshi said.
Buddha Air will be selling packages of 2 nights 3 days, 4 nights 5 days and 5 nights 6 days packages at different rates.
In 2 nights 3 days, visit to Dakshineswar kali temple of Kolkata, Belur Math, market area are included. This package cost NRs. 28000 which includes foods, two-way tickets and living arrangements.
Similarly, NRs. 58000 has been allocated for 4 nights of 5 nights where visit to High Court building, Old Church, Howrah bridge, Vidhyasagar Setu, National Museum, Victoria Memorial Kalagha Temple are arranged .
The carrier has also made an arrangement in a cheap rate by targeting Nepalese who travel to Kolkata in a group or for religious visit.
The airline announced to commence flight in Kathmandu-Kolkata air route from May 27, 2019.
Buddha Air will be operating 3 weekly flights on Kathmandu-Calcutta-Kathmandu sector on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2076 Jestha 13. The airline will be operating flights initially from their current aircraft ATR-72.
After successful flights to Calcutta, the airline will be operating flights to various South Asian major cities. After around 1 and half year after initiating they are planning the flight to Calcutta with jet powered aircraft. The airline stated they have been reviewing Boeing as well as Airbus and will be choosing one accordingly.
The airline has been focusing on Indian tourist and basically Bengali tourist from Calcutta as they are mostly travel enthusiast and in 2017 more than 20 million Indian tourist visited foreign country about of which only 160 thousand of them visited to Nepal. The airline has already established their office at India as well which will help them to get their market easily.
The airline currently owns 11 aircraft that includes 2 Beechcraft B1900D, 3 ATR 42-320 and 6 ATR 72-500 series aircraft. The airline will be adding 2 more ATR 72 series aircraft to extend their flight operation to different cities of India.
The airlines is providing services to Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, Simara, Janakpur, Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Pokhara, Dhangadi and Tumlingtar from TIA along with Mountain Flights as well as flights to Indian city Varanasi. Buddha Air recently celebrated its completion of 21 years of service in Nepali Aviation Market with ATR company officials.
