Buddha Air adding flights to Pokhara from Jhapa and Biratnagar; stops flying to Kolkata

Leading domestic carrier, Buddha Air is going to initiate flights to Pokhara from two airports at Province No. 1, the Eastern part of the country. The carrier has assured the State Minister of Province No. 1 to commence the flights from the two airports to Pokhara starting December 1st. The flights from this sector have been in focus especially to help promote tourism. The tourists entering Nepal from the eastern borders will be attracted to the flight services to Pokhara from the sectors.

However, the flights in this sector is not going to be direct. The carrier has planned to make a transit at Kathmandu. The flights from Biratnagar and Chandragadhi will make a stop at Kathmandu and then the passengers will have to board another aircraft from Kathmandu to Pokhara. All the transit facilitation and luggage transfer will be the responsibility of the carrier as stated.
Indian tourists from Darjeeling and Sikkim and arriving from Bagdogra Immigration will be facilitated traveling to Pokhara and Jomsom by this flight.

Buddha Air is presently operating 3 flights to Chandragadhi, 8 flights to Biratnagar and 10 flights to Pokhara from Kathmandu.

Stops flying to Kolkata

Buddha Air is canceling its flight to Kathmandu-Kolkata sector from December 02 stating a loss occurred. The carrier has stated that it had a loss of NRs. 100 million in 78 flights done in the sector. The carrier stated that there is lack of proper promotion about Nepal and Visit Nepal 2020 event around its destination airports due to which it had to face short of occupancy while flying back to Kathmandu from Kolkata.
