British Airways plans to terminate 36,000 employees
According to news published in the BBC, British Airways has been negotiating with the United Union to dismiss the job of staff after most of its fleets were grounded due to the epidemic of the Corona virus. While both sides have agreed to a broader agreement, however, some points remain to be agreed upon.
This agreement means that 80 percent of British Airways employees will lose their jobs. The decision will affect all employees of Gatwick and London City Airport. The airline has postponed the work of the two locations until the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
The employees affected will receive some of their salary from the government’s Corona Virus Relief Scheme. They will receive up to £ 2500 monthly under the scheme.
Meanwhile, British Airways has reached a separate agreement with its pilots. Pilots have agreed for 50 percent less than what they are receiving.
