Ryanair receives the first Boeing 737-8 MAX 8 (200) and brings it home to Dublin. Boeing’s 737 Max 8-200, which seats more passengers, is designed for low-cost airlines. With a range of 6,509 kilometers, the aircraft can carry eleven more people than the regular Max 8. 200 seats with a 27-28 inch seat pitch.
Ryanair has placed an order for 210 aircraft, which will be delivered two years later than initially anticipated. Along with Ryanair, VietJet Air is one of the few clients of the MAX 200 version, having placed an order for 100 aircraft in May 2016. As with Ryanair, VietJet has decided to refer to their aircraft as 737-8 and exclude MAX.
Ryanair placed a $7 billion order for 75 MAX 8-200s on December 3, 2020, boosting its order book to 210 aircraft, the first major purchase since the grounding.
The FAA certified the high-density version on March 31, 2021.
