Bhadrapur Airport to remain closed for maintenance

Bhadrapur Airport in Chandragadi, Jhapa will remain closed after 2 PM everyday for 15 days for scheduling maintenance of Runway soon. The airport will start the maintenance work from September 06 and is expected to be completed by September 21. So the airport will operate only till 2 PM in the afternoon from the first landing at the morning.

The present runway is 1500 meters long and 35 meters wide. Because of the increased flight frequency and operation of large aircraft in the runway, the airport authority has decided to focus in the safety of the airport by extending the width of the runway. 2.5 meters of runway will be extended in each side if the runway and the width will be increased to 40 meters. 

Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines, Nepal Airlines, Shree Airlines and Saurya Airlines have been conducting daily flights in the airport from Kathmandu using aircraft with 50 or above seat capacity. The flow of passenger in this airport is high as it is the main gateway to Kathmandu from the Eastern part of the country. The airport will resume regular operation as soon as the runway up garadation would complete.
