A Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Mi-17 Helicopter in Bangladesh got crashed today at 10:18 am. The chopper with registration number 648 in UN colors crashed this morning inside Kalighat BGB Camp, Srimangal.
Local Fire Service Authority reported that 4 people have been injured so far. Among the injured people two are BGB personnel Lt. Mehedi and Sr. Warrent Officer Farhad and the rest two are foreign nationals.
BAF is the aerial warfare branch of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, primarily tasked with the air defense of Bangladesh territory and providing air support to the Bangladesh Army and Navy.
Additionally, the service has a territorial role of providing strategic air transport and logistics capability for the country.
A week back, Two training planes of the BAF crashed after collision on Wednesday night in the country’s Cox’s Bazar district, 292 km southeast of capital Dhaka, but the pilots ejected safely.
