Bad weather condition shuts Lukla’s Tenzing-Hilary airport

Bad weather hampers the Tenzing-Hilary airport of Lukla compelling the airport to remain closed from past four days.

According to our source, dense fog conditions have forced the airport to have no operation of aircraft from last four days.

The peak season for the entry of tourists in the region has already begun but zero operation of aircraft at the local airport since last four days has affected both tourists and tourism agents in Lukla.

Major domestic flight operators presently analyzing the peak season for tourism at this part of Himalaya region had planned to conduct daily ten to twelve take offs from Kathmandu for Lukla but the foggy weather condition of the region has been affecting the airlines business adversely from past few days.

Source added that local entrepreneurs who migrated out of Lukla for the winter hibernation are rapidly returning back. Around fifty foreigners are also visiting the Sagarmatha region on a daily basis.

It has also been informed that hundreds of tourists who arrived for visiting the Sagarmatha region are stuck in Lukla after zero operation of aircraft caused by the foggy weather.

Tenzing-Hilary airport in Lukla hasn’t yet operated any flight today as well due to bad weather conditions prevailed at the region.
