Aviation Museum of Kathmandu officially opens for public

Aviation museum in Kathmandu will officially open to public from 28 November. The museum was open for students only for last three weeks where around 50000 students from grade 9-12 visited the museum and provided enthusiastic response.

The press meet was conducted at the museum premises today specially to aware everyone about the official opening of the giant A330 Aviation Museum. The delegates from Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), media personnel and other guests attended the meet today.

The museum was made by restoring Airbus 330-300 of Turkish airways that suffered a runway excursion event back in March 2015 which was dismantled and reassembled in Sinamangal as a joint project between ‘the Bed Upreti Trust’ and ‘Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN)’ at a cost of 70 million Rupees. The museum consists of displays of various miniatures aircraft and information about the history of aviation in cabin of the aircraft. The museum employs 25 staffs and the guides wear flight attendant uniforms.

“I am excited to announce that the museum is now open to public from Tuesday, and want to especially thank the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Turkish Airlines for their support” says Captain Bed Upreti.

Students from Grade 9-12 from all over Nepal can enter the museum free if they have a letter endorsing visit from their schools with their school IDs. One teacher accompanying 15 students of any grades will also have free entry. All students with IDs get 50% off on ticket.

The opening time is 10 to 5 everyday. The cost for entry is as follows:

Normal Entry: Rs. 250 (including SAARC countries citizens)

Students with ID: Rs. 125

Differently abled visitors: Rs. 125

CAAN staff and Airline crew (pilots and Flight Attendants) have free entry

Initially the price was comparatively higher but after the joint venture of CAAN and Bed Upreti Trust it was reimbursed to given price.
