The Air Service Agreement (ASA) with United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to be revised as the Nepal and UAE government have started necessary preparations.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has initiated discussions for the review. The Ministry informed that the revision will be done with the high level visit program scheduled in the month of Ashar.
The ASA rectification done on 2015 allows the airlines of Nepal and UAE to operate weekly flights with 28 thousands seat capacity.
The ASA between the two countries happened for first time in 1999 and 4 airlines; 2 from Nepal and 2 from UAE are operating flights.
The national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) operates 4 weekly flights to UAE while the private international carrier Himalaya Airlines operates 7 weekly flights.
FlyDubai operates 28 weekly flights whereas Etihad operates 7 weekly flights to Nepal.
As per the information, the revision of ASA this time will allow more number of flights between the two countries. Nepal has ASA with 31 countries as per the latest record.
