Lukla Airport: Flights disrupted for three days due to poor visibility
01 July, 2016 – Tenzing Hillary Airport (IATA: LUA, ICAO: VNLK), which is also known as Lukla Airport, is facing adverse impact on flight operation since last wednesday due to continued downpour and thick fog.
According to the Ang Tashi Sherpa, station manager of Simrik Air and Goma Air at lukla airport, the airport has remained close form last three days due to an extreme low visibility to carry out the flight operations.
The airport lies on the lap of Mt Everest, and is considered the gateway to the world’s highest mountain Mt. Everest and is the only airport in Solukhumbu district of eastern Nepal.
