NAC Receives Ground Handling Service Of TIA For Coming Five Years.

Jun 06, 2016 – Finally, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has handed the responsibility of ground handling of country’s sole international airport Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) for upcoming five years.

Prior to this decision, the contract of ground handling was given to the corporation for just two years. It has been reported that within few days, CAAN will sign the contract with NAC regarding ground handling.

In accordance to the sources, the flag bearer NAC has been earning more than Nrs.350 crore annually which is approximately equal to the 40% of its total annual income.

Currently, NAC provides ground handling service to 25 international airliners except Thai Airways and Air India. Thai Airways and Air India has their own ground handling at TIA. The corporation has employed 702 personnel’s for ground handling service to TIA who work in 3 shifts everyday.

NAC has spent almost 100 crore for the provision of ground handling and pays annually Nrs. 43 crore 75 lakhs to CAAN as service fees.
