These are the 10 safest low-cost airlines in the world
The recently introduced low-cost airline business model that has come to practice has been around for a couple of decades, but has developed a major share in the airline industry as most of the Airline operators are following this practice.
As a result of this, low-cost airlines cover more than 25% of the world’s aviation business share. From a wide pool of 407 carrier operators around the world, AirlineRatings.com selected the 10 safest low-cost and leisure charter airlines in the world. The website evaluated each airline based on its standing with international regulators, its incident and fatality records over the past 10 years, its results from an International Air Transportation Association (IATA) safety audit and whether the airline’s country of origin conforms to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s 8-point safety parameters.

10) Aer Lingus
It is the Ireland’s national flag carrier that operates a hybrid low-cost model offering some of full service luxuries on its long-haul routes. The airline marks a good safety record as it has not suffered any fatal accident since the 1960s.
9) JetBlue:
AirlineRatings.com has even awarded Jetblue the honor of being the best low cost airline in North and South America. Jetblue has never had a fatal accident in company history thus it makes a remarkable history of safe operation.
8) Jetstar
It is the low-cost subsidiary of Qantas airlines that has been quoted AirlineRatings.com’s safest airline in the world. The Melbourne based airline has also not suffered any crash or fatal incident in company’s history.
7) Thomas Cook:
It is one of the largest holiday charter airlines in the world and holds an excellent safety record for having no crashes on its safety history.
6) TUI Fly:
It is a major German holiday charter airline and it, too, has never suffered a crash with a remarkable safety record.
5) Westjet:
It is Canada’s largest low-cost airline. AirlineRatings.com praised the airline for its generous room and quality in-flight entertainment options for a budget carrier. WestJet also does not have a crash record in its operation history.
4) Flybe:
Flybe is a low-cost regional airline based in southwest England established in 1979. The airline makes an impressive record of having no fatal crashes on its history.
3) HK Express.
This is a Hong Kong-based airline launched in 2004 as a regional airline servicing mainland China. This airline adopted a low-cost business model in 2001 and expanded its reach to destinations throughout Southeast Asia. HK Express also has no fatal crashes on its record.
2) Volaris:
This low-cost Mexican carrier is now the second largest airline in the country behind Aeromexico which was founded in 2005. Volaris, too, has no fatal crashes in its history.

Since it commenced operations in 2007, Virgin America airline has suffered no fatalities with an excellent safety history. But, Alaska Airlines recently acquired Virgin America in a $2.6-billion deal and it is still unclear how much longer the Virgin America brand will remain.
