Qatar Airways reduces flight due to aircraft shortages

As a consequence of hold-ups in the delivery of new planes from European manufacturer Airbus, Qatar Airways is limiting its flights by cutting off more than a dozen of regular scheduled flights from Doha. A dozen of the regular routs flights have been reduced according to an airline spokesperson.

The recently launched flight to Adelaide in Australia, flights to Boston, Houston and Miami in the United States as well as flights to Copenhagen, Jakarta and Manchester are some of the routed affected by the shortage of aircraft.

The spokesperson illustrated in the statement that they have been making selective flight cancellations in several sectors just because of the delay in Airbus aircraft deliveries.

He also added that they have been working to minimize the impact on their passengers as much as possible by accommodating them on other flight that suited their travel needs. The flight cancellations are presently on a count of one flight per week in the most affected sectors through the summer.

Chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker from airline said that Qatar airways was speaking to Boeing about securing the aircraft to replace an order of Airbus A320neos because of the possible problem in Airbus affecting hydraulics and software.

Qatar Airways was supposed to receive the first 50 A320s in December but the delivery was denied after saying that the U.S Pratt & Whitney engines that came with the aircraft were inadequately tested for Gulf’s region’s high temperature that the aircraft had to operate in.
