National flag carrier continues their flight services with empty seats
Due to the unofficial border block enforced by Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha along with Madhesi Janadhikar Forum party leaders and India, NAC carriers are forced to conduct international flights with 50 seats empty in route to Kaula Lumpur and Hong Kong. Also, 15 empty seats on its route to Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
Other international flight carriers are also suffering the same faith as they have to conduct its inbound flight operations with 25 empty seats in order to save weight and the aircraft can carry some extra fuel.
As our main festive season is on mark, peak travelling seasonal month may not be so profitable for the airline companies conducting their flights in Nepal. NAC spokesperson Ram Hari Sharma reporting to Kathmandu Post states, “The extra fuel we have been carrying by relieving passengers is just enough to fulfil our needs only. NAC is losing $10,000 on each flight as a result of the measure.”
Also, according to Bharat Kumar Shrestha, president of the Airlines Operators Committee, “the situation is getting worse as the cooperation have been experiencing financial losses and the government seems to have no immediate solution to end the crisis.”
