U.S military transport aircraft C-130J crashes near Jalalabad Afghanistan

 

U.S military C-130J, crashed near eastern Afghanistan, killing 6 American Air Force members and 5 civilians. According to the Tony Wickman, spokesperson for U.S military in Afganistan, the accident took place shortly after midnight Thrusday at Jalalabad Airport near the Afghanistan and Pakistan border. In an emailed statement to the CNN, he writes: “With high confidence, it does not appear at this time that enemy fire was involved in the aircraft crash. We have first responders on scene working at the crash site doing recovery operations.” On the other hand, the Taliban confirms that the Islamist activist fighters took the aircraft down.

The names of the departed souls are not released yet by the military, asserting their family members needed to be notified first.

President Barack Obama along with his wife Michelle Obama expressed their condolences to the American and Afghan families, who lost their relatives in the crash. In a statement he said, “As we mark this terrible loss of life, we are reminded of the sacrifice brave Americans and our Afghan partners make each and every day in the name of freedom and security.”
