Tara Air adds one more Aircraft to its fleet

Tara air, established by renowned Yeti Airlines, with the view of expanding its flight operations to remote areas of Nepal have added Canadian DH 6-400 Twin Otter to its fleet . The aircraft departed from Canada a week ago and is scheduled to land Tribhuwan Int’l Airport this evening.

The estimated price of the aircraft is 70 crores (NRS). The company has stated that they have bought the aircraft in a one year lease with an option to buy. Tara air, having already six aircrafts on its fleet has now seven in numbers out of which five aircrafts are Twin Otters and the other two are Dornier-228.

De-Havilland Twin otters are trendy aircrafts for small airports with short airfields. Hence, it would make a great addition in Nepalese Aviation. Nepal, with challenging topography and terrain for flights has some of the most dangerous and challenging airfields. Hence, Tara has decided to operate the flights with DH6-400 in regions like Lukla ,Faplu,Jomsom,Dolpa,Rara and Simikot.The new DH6-400 Twin Otter is an upgrade to old DH6-300 versions that have been flying for years in Nepalese sky. 19 seater DH6-400 has state of the art technical additions in GPS (Global Positioning System) and TCAS (Traffic collision avoidance system). The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT-6A engines.
