Vulnerable Polish Airline’s ground operation system

A cyber-attack forced the Polish Airlines to ground its LOT flights. About 10 national and international flight departures from Warsaw’s Frederic Chopin Airport were cancelled. The airline officials were not able to create new flight plans and departure systems were not responding.

The hackers targeted the airline’s ground operating computer system. The attack was eventually stopped but the technical specialist took about 5 hours to come up with a solution. The airline operators stated no other airports were attacked.

The authorities confirmed about installing the state-of-the art technologies but the hackers were able to infiltrate which highlights the current aviation safety standards. The incident affected the flights of about 1400 passengers.
