Due to missing of routine inspections, Southwest Airlines willingly grounded one hundred twenty-eight 737-700 series Boeing on 25 Feb 2015, Tuesday evening. This is nearly about 20% of the total fleet.
Federal Aviation Administration got informed around 5 p.m about the issue. According to Southwest Spokesperson Brandy King, 80 flights are canceled on Tuesday and 19 more on Wednesday.
The FAA endorsed the airline’s arrangement to do the required inspections over a five-day period.
There are several arguments over the maintenance question between Southwest and the FAA.
