CAAN: Chartered International flights at Tribhuvan International Airport restricted

The government has now restricted chartered International flights at Tribhuvan International Airport. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has decided not to allow chartered flights from Tribhuvan International Airport. Gautam Buddha International Airport will get the business of Tribhuvan International Airport.

Information officer Gyanendra Bhul said that the authority has decided not to allow chartered flights from Tribhuvan Airport to international airline companies during the winter season. He claims that as many international flights as possible are being taken to Bhairahawa as the taxi-way expansion of Tribhuvan Airport also needs to be done.

The authority has reduced flights from Tribhuvan International Airport to force Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines to fly from Bhairahawa in their flight schedule. The authority has made it mandatory for Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines to operate international flights from Bhairahawa.

A rule has been made for airline companies that operate more than three flights per day to fly from Bhairahawa. The foreign airlines have been given time till December 15 to schedule their flights to Bhairahawa.
