At the inauguration ceremony of Nepal’s second international airport- Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA), Jazeera Airways made a successful flight from Kuwait to GBIA at 7 am today.
Jazeera Airways Airbus A320 Flight J9 545 commenced the flight from Kuwait crossing air routes of Iran, Pakistan, New Delhi, and Lucknow and Nepalese airspace of Simara and Chitwan before finally landing at Bhairahaawa Airport. There is no direct route to enter Bhairahawa from Lucknow, India.
74 years after the beginning of air transportation in Nepal, GBIA Airport has been officially inaugurated on the occasion of the 2566th anniversary of Buddha, with Jazeera Airways becoming the first airline to operate international commercial flights. The narrowbody airplane of the Kuwaiti airline received a water cannon salute upon its arrival at GBIA Airport. The aircraft will take off for Kuwait at 2:30 tomorrow, carrying 133 Nepalese with a total flight duration of 4 hours and 22 minutes. It will pursue a one-way Bravo 345 flight route from Bhairahawa to Lucknow without crossing Simara, which will reduce flying time by a few minutes.
The inauguration event of GBIA marked the presence of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Tourism Minister Prem Ale, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, CAAN officials, and others. GBIA will handle regular flights from June 12 only.
Besides Jazeera Airways, Nepal Airlines A320 aircraft performed a Bhairahawa flight carrying 90 passengers today. Departing Kathmandu at 6:27 minutes, RA 1731 landed in Bhairahawa at 6:55 am. The flag carrier operates the return flight at 8 am.
