The flight calibration of Gautam Buddha Regional International Airport has been completed. Praveen Neupane, project manager of ICB-02, said that the flight calibration started ten days ago with the participation of special aircraft, and the technical team has completed it successfully.
“The calibration has been successful. Now Aero Thai technicians will report. The test flight will be conducted as soon as approval is received from the Civil Aviation Authority. After that, the information will be issued to the international airline, ‘Neupane said.
The authority plans to start a test flight from the Nepal Airlines widebody aircraft at the Bhairahawa-based airport on April 14 and a commercial flight from May 15.
When the airport’s construction started, the first phase of the project cost Rs 6.72 billion for the runway, terminal, and tower. In addition, CAAN alone has spent Rs 4 billion. The Asian Development Bank has provided a 40.5 percent loan and 18 percent grant for the airport’s construction.
