Requirements for Cabin Crew Job
The requirement for cabin crew jobs varies from airline to airline; however, below are some widely accepted guidelines.
Requirements at International Airlines
- Minimum Age:18 years in some (South Asia and Southeast Asia) and 21 years (middle east and gulf region)
- Max. Age: International Airlines usually don’t publish maximum age.
- Height: Arm reach of 212 cm on tiptoes and/ or 163 cm height
- Weight: Weight according to Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Education: High school passed (some airlines also accept applications from result waiting candidates)
- Fitness: Must be physically and mentally fit. Wearing glasses is not allowed; however, contact lenses are allowed by most airlines. The ability to swim is also required by most international airlines.
- Tattoo and Piercing: Tattoos and piercings must not be visible while wearing an airline uniform. If you have a tattoo that would be visible, you can go for laser tattoo removal.
- Language: Excellent spoken English is a must. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an advantage. Cabin Crew aspirants are encouraged to learn widely spoken languages such as Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian, etc.
- Experience: Work experience as a cabin crew at previous airlines is highly advantageous, as well as customer service experience such as waiter/waitress, receptionist, barista, etc., is an advantage.

- Is training mandatory for Cabin Crew?
You will not find any airline asking for previous training for an air hostess job. However, air hostess jobs are highly competitive, and candidates who have previous training as an air hostess have more advantages than candidates that do not allow for a simple reason that air hostess training will provide you with a wealth of information and help you build connections in the aviation industry that will prove to be useful for your success as an air hostess.
2. I am married; can I get a job in an Airline as an Air Hostess?
In the previous decade, most of the airlines wanted their cabin crew to resign when they wanted to get married. But as the increase in air travel requires more and more cabin crew to work for the airline, the ‘no marriage’ policy became an absurd and impossible thing to maintain.
These days, most airlines allow the female cabin crew to get married however some airlines require that the female cabin crew is not married at the time of joining. Other airlines accept married cabin crew, but they have to sign a declaration that they are not pregnant because pregnancy can affect their training and might cause the training to remain incomplete.
After joining the airlines as an air hostess, the airlines allow taking maternity leave too. As a matter of fact, an airhostess is not allowed to fly when they are pregnant, and most Airlines provide leave till the baby turns at least six months old.
Some of the Airlines allow air hostesses to do short flights without night stops until the baby turns one so that the mother can nurse the baby during the first year of his/her birth.

3. Will I get an air hostess job after completing the training?
We believe that success comes to those who take action. To achieve anything in life, you must be hungry and willing to keep aside time and effort to achieve your goals. Every task in the world was impossible before someone actually did it.
Air Hostess or Cabin Crew training not only prepares you for one particular job but for most of the customer service-related jobs out there. Airhostess training is designed such that, after the training, you will gain some essential life skills such as discipline, punctuality, grooming, swimming, firefighting, customer service, etc. and on top of that, you will be provided internship opportunities so that you can be introduced to a job environment.
There might be a few years waiting period for job vacancies to open. Still, those few years are an excellent time to gain some customer service experience from jobs and make connections in the aviation industry.
